(Bowman) PENCE<\/strong>; father\u2019s occupation farmer, teacher and minister of the Gospel; paternal grandfather John PENCE<\/strong>; paternal grandmother was a Miss BYERLY<\/strong> prior to her marriage; maternal grandparents John Hoss and Selina (Broyles) BOWMAN<\/strong>; educated by private tutor and at Washington College Tenn.; graduated at Washington College May 1901 with degree of B. A.; in early life worked on a farm and since his graduation he has been in the educational work; served as Principal of New Market (Tenn.) Academy 1901-1903; Prin.
