(Sappington) GENTRY;<\/strong> father\u2019s occupation, farmer; paternal grandparents <strong>Watson<\/strong> and <strong>Theodocia (Poindexter) GENTRY,<\/strong> maternal grandparents <strong>Dr. Thomas<\/strong> and <strong>Elizabeth (Stockett) SAPPINGTON; <\/strong>\u00a0educated at Triune Academy, Athlophrenic Academy, and Owen Hill; graduated in surgery and medicine in the University of the City of New York in 1855; served as surgeon 17<sup>th<\/sup> Tenn. Vols., commissioned by <strong>Gov. Isham G. HARRIS<\/strong>; at close war was surgeon-in-chief of hospitals of Montgomery, Ala.; practiced medicine from 1855 to 1895 and performed a good many notable operations; married <strong>Martha A.
