COCHRANE, Hardin Perkins, <\/strong>physician; born Tuscaloosa, Ala., Oct. 1, 1843; Scotch-Irish descent; son of William<\/strong> and Sophia S. Louisa (Perkins) COCHRANE<\/strong>; father was a lawyer; paternal grandparents William<\/strong> and ______ (Duke) COCHRANE<\/strong>, maternal grandparents Hardin<\/strong> and Sophia (Holland) PERKINS<\/strong>; educated at Tuscaloosa, Ala., and University of Ala.; graduated from medical department of University of the city of New York, M. D. 1874; in 1862 left off studies to enlist in the Confederate army where he served three years; served under Gen. Joseph WHEELER<\/strong> in more than fifty engagements; was at Atlanta, Ga., July 22, 1864, and many other fights; enlisted as private in Co. D. 2nd<\/sup> Ala. Cavalry, appointed Sergeant-Major same 1864; after the civil war engaged in farming for six years; studied medicine and after graduation settled down to practice at Franklin, Tenn., where he has continued ever since; married first, Lalla E. MUDD,<\/strong> 1882, married second, L. O.
