Donaldson Feb. 16, 1862; carried to Camp Douglas prison; exchanged Sept. 1862 as prisoner of war; lost right leg in battle of Peachtree Creek, Ga., July 20, 1864; returned home in May 1865; began his business career as school teacher; later became interested in mercantile business; married <strong>Mary J.
