WHITTHORNE, Washington Curran<\/strong>, attorney at law; born Columbia, Tenn., Oct. 18, 1865; Irish and Scotch descent; son of Washington Curran and Matilda Jane (Campbell) WHITTHORNE<\/strong>; father\u2019s occupation, attorney at law, and was at one time member of the U. S. House of Representatives and U. S. Senate; paternal grandparents William Jarvis and Eliza Chapman (Wisener) WHITTHORNE<\/strong>, maternal grandparents Col. Robert and Elizabeth (Polk) CAMPBELL<\/strong>; educated at Webb\u2019s school, Culeoka, Tenn., Centre College, Danville, Ky., and Georgetown University, D. C.; graduated from Centre College with degree of L. L. B. 1888; commenced the practice of law at Columbia, Tenn., in 1891; married Mary Roy COLE<\/strong> June 5, 1889; member Columbia, Tenn., lodge No. 31, A. F. and A. M., Nashville Commandery No. 1, Knights Templar, Trinity Consistory No. 2, Nashville, Tenn., A. A. S. R. (32d degree), Columbia, Tenn., lodge No. 686, B. P. O. E. (being P. D. D.) and Order of Cincinnati of N.
