She was the widow of the Rev. John P. <strong>DICKEY<\/strong>, who was \u201cadmitted into the Holston Conference\u201d in 1871, and spent the greater part of his life in preaching and teaching.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. <strong>DICKEY<\/strong> was born August 8<sup>th<\/sup>, 1856, near Cleveland, Tennessee in Bradley County. She was married to the Rev. Mr. <strong>DICKEY<\/strong> in September 1837. With her husband, she went to Los Angeles, California, in October 1906, and became a widow in 1912. Thenceforth she made her home with her brothers, Clark H. and R. Lee <strong>BATES<\/strong>, until their passing. Mrs. <strong>DICKEY<\/strong> was very active in religious work, especially in acts of charity. She is survived by a brother, L. W.<strong> BATES<\/strong> of Chattanooga, Tennessee, and a sister, Mrs. J. A. <strong>STEPHENS<\/strong> of Pikeville, Tennessee.
