(Elton) STRIBLING<\/strong>; English descent; worked on a farm until 17 years of age; received a common school education and was a soldier in the Union army during the Civil war; private in Co. F. 12<sup>th<\/sup> Iowa Infantry, captured with regiment at battle of Shiloh April 6, 1862, confined at Tuscaloosa, paroled and discharged Aug. 25, 1862, upon Surgeon\u2019s certificate; helped to organize 2d Tenn., U. S. A., and was Second Lieutenant Co. \u00a0A. of the same regiment; helped to recruit 8<sup>th<\/sup> Tenn. mounted infantry, was elected Lieutenant and was made post Quartermaster at Clifton and Savannah, Tenn.; was mustered out of service at close of war; then formed partnership with <strong>General John O\u2019NEIL<\/strong> and <strong>Col. Owen HAYNE<\/strong>, prosecuting claims against the government; Deputy Sheriff of Wayne Co. 1866-7; Clerk of County Court of Wayne Co., 1867-8; former County Tax Assessor, etc.; married twice, first <strong>Emma I. CYPERT<\/strong> 1867, second <strong>Amelia A. WAITS<\/strong> 1875; member of Clifton Lodge F. and A. M., and Royal Arch Masons, and W. P.
