{"id":14066,"date":"2014-07-02T19:28:17","date_gmt":"2014-07-03T00:28:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/whos-who\/?p=14066"},"modified":"2023-06-12T13:03:36","modified_gmt":"2023-06-12T18:03:36","slug":"clendennen-sarah-anne-reneau","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/whos-who\/clendennen-sarah-anne-reneau\/","title":{"rendered":"CLENDENNEN, Sarah Anne Reneau"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Death came to <strong>Mrs. Sarah Anne Reneau<\/strong> <strong>CLENDENNEN<\/strong> April 17, 1940 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert <strong>OGLE<\/strong>, Knoxville, Tennessee. She was the wife of the late <strong>Rev. George W. CLENDENNEN<\/strong> who for many years was a beloved and honored minister in the Methodist Church, having been admitted into the Holston Conference in 1889.<\/p>\n<p>Mrs. <strong>CLENDENNEN<\/strong> was converted at the age of thirteen years in Edens Chapel, Sevier County. From that time until her death at the age of eighty-five she was a faithful Christian.<\/p>\n<p>She was married to the <strong>Rev. George W. CLENDENNEN<\/strong> on Dec. 24, 1870. To them were born eight children, three of whom preceded their mother to their heavenly home. She was a loyal companion to her husband, and a devoted mother to her children.<\/p>\n<p>She had the unusual privilege of becoming grandmother to thirty-three grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren.<\/p>\n<p>In the later years of her life, though feeble in health, she was often heard to say, \u201cIt is good to wait upon the Lord.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In her illness and suffering she shouted praises to the Lord, gave encouragement to the ministers and was enthusiastic concerning the church and the Kingdom of God.<\/p>\n<p>Truly it could be said of her, \u201cWell done, thou good and faithful servant.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She was laid to rest by the side of her beloved husband in Wildwood Cemetery amid a carpet of beautiful flowers. The funeral was conducted by <strong>Rev. O.R. TARWATER<\/strong>, <strong>Rev. Joe GREEN<\/strong> and <strong>Rev. Perry RULE<\/strong> at Logan\u2019s Chapel.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Source: \u00a0Methodist Episcopal Church.
