(Harris) ABERNATHY<\/b>; father farmer and clerk of circuit court for 24 years; paternal grandparents <b>William<\/b> and <b>Elizabeth (Clayton) ABERNATHY<\/b>; maternal grandparents <b>Tyree<\/b> and <b>Susanna (Swift) HARRIS<\/b>; was educated in country schools and old Giles College; graduated from the Lebanon Law School in 1859; married <b>Sarah E. TALLEY<\/b>, Feb. 22, 1860; he began the practice of law at Pulaski at an early age; before the war was a partner of John H. Woldridge; enlisted in the Confederate army, being private in Co., K. 1<sup>st<\/sup> Tenn. Cav., under Col. J. T. Wheeler; after the war he was associated in the practice of law with <b>John S. WILKES<\/b> (afterward supreme judge) and <b>J. P.<\/b> <b>ABERNATHY<\/b>; was chancellor of the 7<sup>th<\/sup> Tenn. Chan. Division, composed of Giles and ten other counties, from Sept. 1886 to 1902; member of the Delta Psi Frat., of Lebanon Law School; Odd Fellow; Democrat; member M.
