H. and Mary Barly (Erwin) DIGGS<\/b>; his father was a farmer; received education in the common schools of Henry Co., and Andrew College, Trenton, Tenn.; he taught school until the war; married <b>Margaret A. ALEXANDER<\/b> Aug. 20, 1863; enlisted in war in 1861, joining an independent company of cavalry, organized by <b>Capt. STOCKS<\/b>, of Miss., this company being composed entirely of the youths of Henry Co.; he held position of 1<sup>st<\/sup> corporal; later was made 2<sup>nd<\/sup> sergeant, Company G., of the 7<sup>th<\/sup> Tenn. Regt., under command of <b>Col. Wm.
