M., 1876; LL.B., 1877; married first, November 14, 1869; second, October 7, 1878; member of Knights Templar, Masons; Trustee of Cumberland Lodge No. 8, F. &amp; A. M.; military service, private Co. G, 20<sup>th<\/sup> Regiment, Tennessee Cavalry, C. S. A.; Democrat; in Tennessee Legislature 1887; Chairman of Judiciary Committee, voted and worked for prohibition and temperance legislation; served in Bell\u2019s Brigade under Gen.
