(Parks) MOSES<\/b>; paternal grandparents <b>John F.<\/b> and <b>Mary (Pearson) MOSES<\/b>, maternal grandparents <b>William<\/b> and <b>Jane (Armstrong) PARK<\/b>; educated University of Knoxville; engaged in hardware business before war; entered army before age of 17; married <b>Elizabeth M. MITCHELL<\/b>, October 20, 1870; served one term as Clerk in House of Representatives, State of Tennessee, 1875; member of the Board of Railroad Tax Assessors by appointment of Gov. Porter, 1877-78; joined C. S. A. May 6, 1862, Company D, Sixty-third Tennessee; appointed Color Sergeant June 19, 1863; was offered rank of Captain, but declined; was in Bragg&#8217;s campaign from Tullahoma back to Chattanooga; in Chickamauga campaign, September, 1863; served with Longstreet in East Tennessee campaign; served under Beauregard at Drury&#8217;s Bluff (Va.), in 1864, in which battle he was wounded May 16, 1864, but rejoined command in October, 1864; saw service in numerous battles in and around Petersburg; appointed Ensign with rank of First Lieutenant April, 1864; surrendered and was paroled at Appomattox courthouse; has devoted twenty years to cause of pensioning Confederate soldiers, having been a member of the Pension Board since 1891; he has also engaged in banking and newspaper work at divers times; residence, Knoxville, Tenn.<\/span><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Source:<\/span><i style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0Who\u2019s Who in Tennessee: A Biographical Reference Book of Notable Tennesseans of To-Day<\/i><span style=\"color: #000000;\">.
