ABERNATHY, Andrew Jackson<\/strong>, lawyer; born Giles Co., Tenn., Sept. 18, 1834; Scotch-Welsh descent; son of Charles C. and Susanna W. (Harris) ABERNATHY<\/strong>; father farmer and clerk of circuit court for 24 years; paternal grandparents William and Elizabeth (Clayton) ABERNATHY<\/strong>; maternal grandparents Tyree and Susanna (Swift) HARRIS<\/strong>; was educated in country schools and old Giles College;\u00a0 graduated from the Lebanon Law School in 1859; married Sarah E. TALLEY,<\/strong> Feb. 22, 1860; he began the practice of law at Pulaski at an early age; before the war was a partner of John H. WOLDRIDGE<\/strong>; enlisted in the Confederate army, being private in Co. K, 1st Tenn. Cav., under Col<\/strong>. J.T. WHEELER<\/strong>; after the war he was associated in the practice of law with John S. WILKES (afterward supreme judge) and J.P. ABERNATHY<\/strong>; was chancellor of the 7th Tenn. Chan.
