E.; Miss. Historical Society, American Forestry Association, and National Geographical Society; married 1876; engaged in practice of engineering profession, 1872; has done some important work, including Susquehanna River, Schuykill River bridges, B. & O R. R., Red Rock Cantilever Bridge, Colorado River, Arizona, Arkansas and White River bridges, and Randolph bridge over Mo. river at Kansas City, Mo.; did some work on Miss levees; chief engineer of railroads in South and Southwest; chief engineer Aransas Pass harbor and jetty works, Texas; Major of Volunteer Engineers and Chief Engineer Chattanooga Staa.
