WATKINS, Walter Hudson, lawyer; born Meridian, Miss., February 23, 1878; son Edmund and Idelette C. (Dial) WATKINS; Welsh, Scotch and Irish descent; graduate of Princeton University A. B. 1900; student at Southwestern Presbyterian University 1895-6; Vanderbilt University (Law Department) 1902; member Sigma Alpha Epsilon Greek Letter Fraternity; 1902 admitted to bar in Hamilton County, Tenn.; Attorney and Adjuster for Kentucky and Tennessee for Fidelity & Deposit Company of Baltimore 1902-06; in 1906 became partner in law firm of Watkins, Thompson & Watkins; member of ‘Varsity team in baseball and football at Princeton 1896-99; coach of Vanderbilt football teams 1901-02 and baseball team of 1902; was also coach of Ala. Polytechnic Institute (football and baseball) 1900-01.
