THOMPSON, Wm. R., born Cedar Creek, Perry Co., Tenn.; descent, Dutch-Irish and English; received a common school education; in early life engaged in farming and lumber business; married Ida Jane GUTHRIE; member Masons, Secretary of Lodge; was Superintendent of Public Schools of Perry Co., from 1889 to 1895; Trustee of Decatur Co., from 1908 to 1910; worked on farm and taught in order to defray expenses of his education; later became a lumber dealer; has since the year 1895 been engaged in farming and the raising of horses, mules, hogs and poultry; member of Christian Church.
