ROY, Rob — Editor and Publisher; born Alexandria, Tenn., Aug. 5, 1876; Scotch descent; son of J.F. and Helen (Yeargin) ROY; paternal grandfather Beverly ROY, paternal grandmother Jane (Lawrence) ROY, maternal grandfather R.W. YEARGIN, maternal grandmother Salena (Vick) YEARGIN; educated Webb’s School Bell Buckle; married Carrie SIMPSON Jan. 18, 1899; member Masons, Odd Fellows, Knights of Pythias (C.C.) treasurer Tennessee Press Association, and chairman Masonic Board of Trustees; Democrat; Election Commissioner three times; elected secretary of DeKalb Co., A. & M. Association at the age of 19, oldest fair in the State, and has held position for 16 years; has been editor and publisher of the Alexandria Times for sixteen years; voted by gathering of newspaper man in state of Tennessee; director of the Bank of Alexandria; owner of several business houses Alexandria (Tenn.), secretary, general manager and principal owner of the Alexandria (Tenn.) Fair Association; member of the Methodist Episcopal Church.
