MULFORD, John Nelson, merchant-jeweler; born Newark, N. J.; son of Lewis C. and Sarah E. (BUNNELL) MULFORD; English descent; educated in city schools of Newark, N. J.; in early life was a manufacturing jeweler’s apprentice; entered merchant jewelry business for himself in Memphis, 1881, under firm name of J. N. Mulford & Co., for three years, then succeeded as J. N. Mulford, in 1884 and Mulford & Co., in 1907, and at present he is president of said firm; married twice, first Sallie K. BECHTEL, 1879, second Emma B. RHODES, 1901; Christian Scientist.
