MOORE, Oliver J., merchant; born Upson Co., Ga., Sept. 10, 1864; Irish descent; son of Jerry and Frances (Ansley) MOORE; father’s occupation farmer and contractor; educated in the common schools of Ga., and Calhoun Collegiate Institute; left home at the age of 16 and worked to secure his education under adverse circumstances; began his business career as a school teacher; married Maggie RADFORD Dec. 28, 1892; member Masons, Knights of Pythias; has filled all offices in local lodges of both, W. M. Masonic Lodge six years; Democrat; engaged in Monument business ten years at Hartselle, Ala., in Furniture business three years at Cullman, Ala., now engaged in the latter business at Fayette, Tenn.; member Southern Methodist church.
