McCORKLE, David Eusebius, lawyer; born in Dyer Co., Tenn., Aug. 19, 1858; Scotch-Irish descent; son of Samuel Smith and Margaret (Wharey) McCORKLE; father’s occupation, farmer; paternal grandparents Johiel M. and Elizabeth (Smith) McCORKLE, maternal grandparents, Jonathan and Jane (Walkup) WHAREY; educated in Southern Union Normal School, Newbern, Tenn.; in early life was a farmer and teacher; married twice; first, Lulie E. VAUGHAN, Feb. 12, 1890; second, Lena H. CAMPBELL, Jan. 16, 1906; member Knights of Pythias; Democrat; Superintendent of Public Instruction for Dyer Co., Tenn., 1886-90; State Senator 52d General Assembly of Tenn.; was in the newspaper business from 1890 to 1894; now engaged in the practice of law at Franklin, Tenn.; member of the Church of Christ.
