B. degree; admitted to bar 1905; partner in law firm of Lehman, Gates & Martin of Memphis; attorney for Travelers Insurance Co.; first dean of law department, University of Memphis; president of Tri-State Club, 1909-10; director Chickasaw Guards Club, 1909-1911, Captain 1st Tenn. regiment, Co. “G,” chairman for Shelby Co. of victorious independent ticket for Supreme Court and Court of Civil Appeals.
