MALONE, James Henry, lawyer; born Limestone Co., Ala., Oct. 31, 1851; Irish descent; son of Franklin Jefferson and Mary Lou (Hardin) MALONE; father’s occupation, physician; educated in the country schools of Tenn.; graduated from law department Cumberland University, Lebanon, Tenn., in 1872; married Estelle V. MELLEN, Sept. 25, 1877; Democrat; without solicitation he was nominated for Mayor of Memphis, Tenn., in 1905, and subsequently elected, serving four years; he agitated a system of public improvements for streets, parks, etc.; upon retiring from office he resumed the practice of law.
