JONES, James M., farmer and lumberman; born Roane Co., Tenn., June 21, 1861; Irish and Dutch descent; son of John C. and Sarah K. (Waller) JONES; father’s occupation, farmer; paternal grandparents John and Matilda (Holt) JONES, maternal grandparents John B. and Katie (Pickel) WALLER; was educated at Roane College, Tenn., and began his business career as a school teacher, later entered the farming and lumber business; married twice, first, Anna Florence REED, Sept. 6, 1883, second, Lizzie GOLDSTON, Oct. 18, 1905; member Masons and Odd Fellows; Democrat; Justice of the Peace; member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church.
