HOLMAN, Thomas P., physician, born in Lincoln Co., Tenn., March 3, 1834; English and Irish descent; son of James W. and Jean (Flack) HOLMAN; father’s occupation Baptist Minister and farmer; paternal grandparents Hardy and Elizabeth (Wilson) HOLMAN; maternal grandparents Thomas and Susan (Dougherty) FLACK; graduated Murfreesboro, Tenn., with degree of Bachelor of Philosophy June 1859; graduated from Washington University, Baltimore, Md., with degree of M. D., in 1869; in early life taught school; now practicing medicine at Fayetteville, Tenn.; married Silena MOORE Jan. 5, 1875; member Masonic Lodge, Mulberry, Tenn.; Independent and Prohibitionist in politics; former delegate to National Prohibition convention and elector on Prohibition ticket; served as private in Confederate army during civil war; member of Christian church.
