GROOMS, Zebulon W., wholesale and retail dealer in live stock; born in Weakley Co., Tenn., Aug. 30, 1856; English descent; son of Right M. and Eliza Ann (Ray) GROOMS; father’s occupation farmer; paternal grandparents Bright and Katy (Windows) GROOMS; maternal grandfather Nathan RAY; his maternal grandmother was a Miss BROWN prior to her marriage; graduated from Sims Academy March 1877; left an orphan at the age of six, his father having lost his life during civil war, in the Confederate army; began his career as a farmer, later became interested in live stock; at present dealing in live stock as one of the firm of Ray and Grooms, Greenfield, Tenn., wholesale and retail dealers in live stock; married Frances Alice GROOMS, Oct. 22, 1876; member F. & A.M., I.O.O.F., and Knights of Pythias; Democrat; former justice of the peace eighteen years; former Trustee of Weakley Co., Tenn., three terms; member Cumberland Presbyterian church, Greenfield, Tenn., joined the Meridian C.P. church, 1878.
