EASTMAN, Corinne Gleaves, teacher; born Nashville, Tenn., May 23, 1853; Scotch-English descent; father, merchant; daughter of Henry Albert and Eliza Jane (Tannehill) GLEAVES; paternal grandparents Thomas and Mary (Dean) GLEAVES, maternal grandparents Wilkins and Eliza (Dewees) TANNEHILL; graduated Nashville high school, June 1870; married Elbridge Gerry EASTMAN February 22, 1872; has been connected with Nashville public schools since 1884; member Church of Christ; her grandfather, Wilkins TANNEHILL, was a son of Josiah TANNEHILL, who was a General in the Revolutionary War; she is also descended from William WILKINS, who was Secretary of War under President TYLER.
