Is this the same Cowan family that a ‘ferry’ was named for on the French Broad River c1840; i.e. Cowan’s Ferry?
Thanks.
Hi Shane – Cowan’s ferry was owned by Samuel Cowan (http://www.danielhaston.com/places/knox-co/knox-co-map.htm). I’m not sure if the George Cowan mentioned here is part of his family or not. I’ll see if I can find out!
Taneya, Thanks. I’m not completely sure this is my guy. I think my Cowan was F.B., from Jefferson County, http://jefferson.tngenealogy.net/about-jeff/21-geography/48-civil-districts-established-in-1836. Any ideas?
