Beard; English and Scotch descent; educated at K.M.I., Frankfort, Ky., University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Mich; was First Lieutenant in Kentucky Militia; graduate of K.M.I., Frankfort, Ky., A.B., June, 1879; Ann Arbor post-graduate course 1880-81; valedictorian of class; married Carrie Belle GROSVENOR, November 15, 1887; member of B.M.C., Odd Fellows, Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Chickasaw Guards, Memphis Light Guards; Clerk and Master of Chancery Court of Shelby County 1894-1900; attends Presbyterian Church.
