RHEA, Goerge W., farmer; born Sneedville, Tenn., Sept. 13, 1834; Dutch descent; son of John and Lucy (Anderson) RHEA; father was a farmer; paternal grandmother was a Miss NORCROSS prior to her marriage, maternal grandparents James and Margaret (Sullivan) ANDERSON; received common school education; entered farming in early life; married Marian McCOY, Nov. 22, 1860, M.E. SHIPLEY, July 20, 1890; member Masonic Lodge; Republican; served as U.S. Dept. Marshal three terms, deputy sheriff and was Justice of the Peace, Sept. 1900, to Sept., 1906; member of Baptist church.
