1901  Resolutions of respect to the memory of Eld W. Charley GREER, as addopted by Thompson Creek Church, Weakley Co Tenn.
Whereas the omnipotant allwise God of heaven and earth has removed from the walks of man our dearly beloved brother and pastor W C GREER.  be it resolved

st 1-  That in his death we feel that his family the churches he served and the community in which he lived and labored togather with a host of friends have sustained an irreparable loss, a man of tireless energy and unflagging hopes consecrated to the work of his Maker with the promise of unbounded usefulness in the world cut down in the verry bloom of manhood.
Viewing our loss in this light were it not for our faith and trust in Him who doeth all things aright; Him who possesses infinite love and mercy we could but exclaim, "O death thou dread monster", How unjust; how cruel thou art; But no we thank God for an implicite faith that views death as a white wing (winged) messenger sent to bear the spirits of heav (heaven) bound blood washed souls to the rea (realm) of eternal rest.

2d  That he possesed an humble concien (conscientious) self sacrifising charitable spirit  He ever mantained a cheerful disposition ready to turn on the sun shine of hope and gladness to those in sorrow or grief and but few have possesed the magical power of touching the hearts and influencing the lives of our young men and boys as did this noble brother;  He made himself one of them and was ever ready to instruct to advise and to sympathise with them;

3d  That he lived a life worthy of imitation therefore let us strive to follow his example realizing that his going from us leaves a great gap and that we must close up the ranks and march on under the banner he so much loved to uphold- and while another precious link has been severed and our dear brother has passed over the river his last glorious hours of life have taken all the sting out of death;
            Servant of God; well done
            Thy glorious warfare is passed
            The battle fought the victim won
            and though art crowned at last

That we tender to the bereaved family our heart-felt sympathy and that a copy of these resolutions be sent them also a copy to the Baptist Flag, and our (county) Paper the Parisian requesting publication.
