Obituary of Sister Tommie Speights
In the sweet loving providence of God who doeth all things well, and in
him their is no error, He has seen fit in His wisdom to remove from us
one of our dear neighbor girl, Miss Tommie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.
E. Speight, age nineteen years. She professed faith in God and
united with the church at Thompson Creek about one year before her
death, which occurred Dec 21. 1910 after a few days of intense
suffering from pneumonia. She was always an affectionate and
dutiful child, ever ready to please papa and mama. She is greatly
missed in the circle of her many friends; but we do not grieve as those
who have no hope. Her every day life exemplified that she had
been with God. Her sweet courteous manners towards all, her eager
desire to do what she could for her master bespeaks for her a true
child of God. We would say to her heartbroken parents and all
"cease to count your loss, lift up your troubled spirits and consider
the glorious exchange she has made- a body of disease and pain laid
down to be transformed into a body like unto the body of our glorious
--- body of our blessed Lord, free from sickness, sorrow pain and
death, to dwell forevermore with God and all the redeemed hosts of
heaven".
