Obituary
Mrs. T. A. Somers was born July
27th 1865 and died Feb 16th 1899. aged 33 years, six months
twenty days. She was the oldest daughter of Mr. P.
Gatewood. was married to Mr. F. E. Somers Feb 8th 1888.
professed faith in Christ April 7 the year following and was ? baptised
into the fellowship of Thompson Creek Church the following year.
She was a worthy and faithful member of that church until her death as
was clearly manifested by her Christian piety during her illness.
She was afflicted with consumtion and realized her condition up to her
death about one week before which she commenced making requests
concerning the funeral services, stating that she wanted the writer to
read the scriptural lesson for her father-in-law Bro. P. L. Somers to
pray and elder Tom Mayo to preach her funeral at Palmersville where she
wanted to be buried all of which was complied with. She said it
was hard to give up her children especially her baby boy one year old,
but she finally became reconciled. She died rejoicing in the
Christian's faith
She leaves a kind and faithful husband, Three sweet children, and a
host of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. I had the
pleasure of solemnizing the rites of matrimony when she was married and
baptized her when she joined the church, and have lived by her for a
long time, and have never heard anyone say a word against Sister
Somers. Surely she must have been a good woman.
