Resolutions of Respect
 
James Lafayette Tomlinson was born in Weakly County Tenn at Ore Spring March 18, 1834 and died at Tulia Texas April 14th 1917 being at the time of his death 83 years and 26 days of age.

He spent his entire life excepting the last few months within a few miles of the place of his birth.  He was married to Mariah L. Barr Dec 1859 and to this union there were born 9 children two having preceded him in death and seven left to survive him.

There are in the family 19 grand children and 16 great grand children.  Deceased wife died Dec. 1899 They having lived together forty years.
He was a consecrated in early life and united with this church in which he still held his membership at the time of his death.  He was a consistent Christian man and loved the services of this church and even tho he had not been able to hear the human voice for years he was always in his accustomed place in the services when his health and the weather would prevail.  The last few months of deceased life were spent at Tulia Tex in the home of his daughter Mrs. LaPrade where he died in the presence of his.....(I think it says family, but there isn't anything else and I didn't see it continued on another page)
