Resolutions of Respect
We, your committee, beg to submit the following resolutions of respect
at Thompson Creek Church towards our sister, Irene SIMMONS, who was
born Oct. 7, 1894, died June 17, 1912. She was a devoted
and obedient daughter, never refusing to do anything her parents
requested. She never returned cross words to them when they told
her to do anything. She professed faith in Christ and joined the
Missonary Babtist Church at Thompson's Creek on Friday before the 3d
Sunday in August 1911. She bore her afflictions with patience;
she never complained of her illness, but bore everything with
fortitude. She was not afraid to cross the river of death.
She said she was not afraid to die. Dear father and mother,
brothers and sister, let us not grieve as those who have no hope.
We are sure she has gone to rest in the arms of Jesus. Farewell, dear
Irene, it greives our hearts to know that on earth we must part never
to meet again, but, thank God, we all hope to meet you in heaven.
There will be a vacant place in her home and in our church that will
never be fild. God, our father tells us to be submissive to his
will. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor H. W. JACKSON
