Army Spc. Foley was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 44th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, Fort Campbell, Kentucky. Foley was killed when a grenade exploded inside his HMMWV while performing maintenance on a humvee. The military has described it as a "friendly fire" incident. After he settled at Fort Campbell, Tommy discovered a love for karaoke and playing pool. He would spend lots of time at a local hangout where he was well known and liked. He was also a prankster and teased his wife because she was six months younger. He liked the X-Men movie and named his baby, Logan, after the Wolverine character.
