Many Weakley County Cousins have volunteered materials and time over the years to make it what it is today. Sadly, most of them have passed on, but their work continues for our benefit.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Weakley County History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"alignright size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/weakley\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/08\/RobertWeakley_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-57\" width=\"113\" height=\"161\"\/><figcaption>Colonel Robert Weakley<\/figcaption><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Weakley County was established October 21, 1823 from lands ceded by the Chickasaw Indians. Weakley County was named for Colonel Robert Weakley who was at the time Speaker of the Tennessee State Senate. Weakley County is located on the Plateau Slope of West Tennessee, one of the three &#8220;Grand Divisions&#8221;. Weakley County is bordered on the north by the State of Kentucky, on the east by <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/henry\" target=\"_blank\">Henry County<\/a>,<\/strong> on the South by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/carroll\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Carroll<\/strong><\/a> and <strong><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/gibson\" target=\"_blank\">Gibson Counties<\/a>,<\/strong> and on the west by <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"\/obion\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Obion County<\/strong><\/a>.
