Monday October 6th 1851<\/strong>
Be it remembered that a Quarterly County Court was began & held for the County of Wayne at the Court House in the Town of Waynesboro on the sixth day it being the first Monday in October in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and fifty one When and where the following Justices were present and presiding to wit D J JONES<\/strong> Chairman LAFFERTY BARKER HAM HAYNES<\/strong> A B GANTT<\/strong> [B HAM<\/strong> \u2013 crossed out] Solomon JOBE<\/strong>, John MONTAGUE<\/strong>, George G HERRON<\/strong>, L B GANT<\/strong>, A J BREWER<\/strong> C W POPE<\/strong> PHILIP & CARTER<\/strong><\/p>\n

It appearing to the Court that Elizabeth DICKSON<\/strong> [WARREN<\/strong> \u2013 crossed out] wife of Samuel DICKSON<\/strong> has died in [this \u2013 crossed out] Wayne County intestate And the said Samuel DICKSON<\/strong> having this day come into open Court and renounced his right to administer upon the separate estate of his said wife and Thomas WARREN<\/strong> [having \u2013 crossed out] son of the said Elizabeth having applied to this Court for Letters of Administration upon the separate estate of said Elizabeth WARREN<\/strong> It is therefore ordered by the Court that Letters of Administration upon the goods and chattles rights and credits of said Elizabeth WARREN<\/strong> upon his entering into bond and security as required by law and came into Court said Thomas WARREN<\/strong> and William POLLARD<\/strong> and John M McDOUGAL<\/strong> his securities and entered into bond in the [sum \u2013 crossed out] the penal sum of four thousand dollars conditioned for his faithful administration of said estate which bond was duly acknowledged in open Court by said Thomas WARREN<\/strong> William POLLARD<\/strong> and John McDOUGAL<\/strong> and approved by the Court And thereupon the said Thomas WARREN<\/strong> was duly sworn in open Court Faithfully to discharge his duty as such Administrator as prescribed by law<\/p>\n

James ARNETT<\/strong> Guardian to A P KINDEL<\/strong> minor heir of Guston KINDEL<\/strong> deceased came into Court and renewed his Bond in the sum of four hundred dollars with G W BARKER<\/strong> his security which was approved of by the court and ordered to be recorded<\/p>\n

Ordered by the Court that John HARDIN<\/strong> be appointed Overseer of the road of Second Class in the place of Daniel BRYSON<\/strong> removed and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued Oct 7, 1851<\/strong>
Ordered by the Court that William KEATON<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of second [road \u2013 crossed out] Class in the place of Luke LEE and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued Oct. 7, 1851<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ordered by the Court that Henry HOLT<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of second Class in the place of Jesse HALFORD<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Iused Oct 1851<\/strong><\/p>\n

A settlement between Wm JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and Josiah ROBINSON<\/strong> Guardian to the minor heirs of Enoch JAMES<\/strong> Dec\u2019d was this day submitted to the Court which was rec\u2019d by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/p>\n

A settlement between William JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and D J JONES<\/strong> Guardian to Giles VANSANT<\/strong> was this day submitted to the Court which was confirmed and ordered to be recorded<\/p>\n

A settlement between Wm JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and James ARNETT Guardian to Alfred P KINDEL<\/strong> minor heir of Guston KINDEL<\/strong> dec\u2019d was this day submitted to the Court which was confirmed and ordered to be recorded<\/p>\n

Upon the petition of Wm POLLARD <\/strong>Administrator of the estate of Jacob A KEATON<\/strong> deceased [amend \u2013 crossed out] it is ordered by the Court that said Administrator amend his settlement with the Clerk of this Court<\/p>\n

Came Wm M LAFFERTY<\/strong> and others who was at a former term of this Court appointed Commissioners to allot and set apart to the widow of John ALTOM deceased one years support and reported accordingly which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/p>\n

Came D J JONES<\/strong> Administrator of the estate of Cynthia STOCKARD<\/strong> dec\u2019d and returned into Court an inventory and Account of sales of said estate verified by his oath which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/p>\n

Came D K HOOD<\/strong> and others who was at a former term of this Court appointed to lay off to Samuel STOCKARD<\/strong> minor heir of Cynthia STOCKARD<\/strong> deceased a support for one year and reported accordingly which was received and ordered to be recorded<\/p>\n

Came Wm BENHAM<\/strong> Administrator of the estate of John ALTOM<\/strong> deceased and returned into Court and Inventory and Accounts of sales verified by his Oath which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/p>\n

Came C B McLEAN<\/strong> Administrator of the estate of Henry GRIMES<\/strong> deceased and returned into Court an Act. of second sale of said estate verified by his Oath which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/p>\n

Came John McDOUGAL<\/strong> and other who was at a former term of this Court appointed Commissioners to lay off to the widow of Lemuel ASKEW<\/strong> deceased one years support for herself & family and reported accordingly which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/p>\n

George G HERRON<\/strong> who was duly elected a Justice of the Peace for Wayne County by the qualified voters of the fourteenth Civil District thereof came into Court and presented to the Court his Commission And Whereupon the said George G HERRON<\/strong> Took the necessary oaths for his qualification and took his seat on the bench<\/p>\n

A settlement between Wm JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and David TACKETT<\/strong> Guardian to the minor heirs of Wiley B TACKETT<\/strong> deceased was this day submitted to the Court which was confirmed by the Court and ordered to be recorded

Came David TACKETT<\/strong> Guardian to the minor heirs of W B TACKETT<\/strong> Deceased and renewed his bond in the sum of Two hundred dollars with R BREWER<\/strong> and C ACKLIN<\/strong> his securities which was received by the Court [which was rec \u2013 crossed out] and ordered to be recorded
On Motion [Came D J JONES<\/strong> \u2013 crossed out] it is ordered by the Court that James ANDERSON<\/strong> D. J. JONE<\/strong>S and John McDOUGAL<\/strong> by appointed Commissioners to allot and set apart to Rachel MERRYMAN<\/strong> widow of Eli MERRYMAN<\/strong> deceased so much of the stock crop [stock \u2013 crossed out] provision and money as shall be sufficient for the support of herself and family for the term of one year from the death of her said husband and that they report the same to the November term of this Court and that Order Isue accordingly
Rachel MERRYMAN<\/strong> Widow of Eli MERRYMAN<\/strong> deceased this day relinquished her right of Administration on said estate in writing to the Court and request the Court to appoint Joacim DUGGER<\/strong> adm\u2019r on said Estate And Whereupon the said Joacim DUGGER<\/strong> came in to Court and entered into bond in the sum of Twenty five hundred dollars with John McDOUGAL<\/strong> and Stephen BIVENS<\/strong> his securities and whereupon the said DUGGER and each of his securities came into Court and acknowledged the execution of said Bond which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded And whereupon the said Joacim DUGGER<\/strong> took the necessary Oath for his qualification<\/p>\n

Ordered by the Court that the commissioners appointed at a former term of this Court to superintend the painting of the Court house also have the windows of said house [the Entry Takers Office in said house \u2013 crossed out] repaired [in said \u2013 crossed out] except the offices occupied by the Clerks & Register<\/p>\n

Ordered by the Court that George W CABB<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of first Class [in the place of \u2013 crossed out] leading from Waynesboro to Savannah in the place of Green WILSON<\/strong> and John L. FOWLER<\/strong> [and Issac MORRIS<\/strong> \u2013 crossed out] that he work from [the – crossed out] Waynesboro to the four mile post and that he have the hands in the same bounds of the said WILSON & FOWLER<\/strong> to work under his direction Isued Oct 7, 1871<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ordered by the Court that Alison HUGHLING<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of second Class in the place of C H HUGHLING<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued Oct 7, 1851<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ordered by the Court that Pleasant MORGAN<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of 2d Class in the place of Andrew CASTEEL<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued Oct 7, 1851<\/p>\n

The Widow of Wm C McBRIDE<\/strong> deceased this day relinquished her right to administer on the said estate and request the Court to appoint James E. McKNIGHT<\/strong> in writing and Whereupon the said James E. McKNIGHT<\/strong> came into Court and entered into bond in the sum of six hundred dollars conditioned for the faithful performance of his Administration with D J JONES<\/strong> and C ACKLIN<\/strong> his securities and whereupon the said McKNIGHT<\/strong> and each of his said securities came into open Court and Acknowledged the execution of said bond which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded Where upon the said McKNIGHT<\/strong> took the necessary oath for his qualification<\/p>\n

Came into Court T G ALLEN<\/strong> who has been appointed deputy Sheriff of Wayne County by Rial BREWER<\/strong> Sheriff of said County and took the necessary Oaths for his qualification<\/p>\n
