{"id":2235,"date":"2016-09-18T12:01:04","date_gmt":"2016-09-18T17:01:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/wayne2\/?p=2235"},"modified":"2016-09-18T12:01:04","modified_gmt":"2016-09-18T17:01:04","slug":"court-august-1850","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/wayne\/court-august-1850\/","title":{"rendered":"Court August 1850"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\">Monday August 5th 1850<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> State of Tennessee Wayne County<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> Be it remembered that a quarterly County Court was begond and held for the County of Wayne at the Court house in the town of Waynesboro on the\u00a05th day it being the first Monday in August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty the following Justices present and presiding (To wit) D J <strong><span style=\"color: #000000\">JONES<\/span><\/strong> Chr.\u00a0<strong>YOUNG<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>LAFFERTY<\/strong> his associates<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\">A settlement between Wm <strong>JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and Elizabeth <strong>CARTER <\/strong>Guardian to the minor heirs of David <strong>CARTER<\/strong> dec&#8217;d was this day submitted to the Court which was confirmed and ordered to be recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\">Came D.J. Jones Guardian to [the minor heirs of George V-crossed out] Giles <strong>VINSANT <\/strong>minor heir of George <strong>VINSAND<\/strong> dec&#8217;d and renewed his bond in the sum of one hundred and fifty Dollars with C B <strong>McLEAN<\/strong> his security which was approved of by the Court and ordered to be recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered by the Court that C H <strong>HUGHLING<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of 2d Class and that he work from the Waynesboro &amp; Savannah road, the Eastport Road to the Eight mile tree &amp; that he have Joseph <strong>HUGHLING, <\/strong>Alison<strong> HUGHLING,<\/strong> Thomas Arnold Longrun[?]<strong> MORRIS,<\/strong> Hazle <strong>COPELAND<\/strong> and all the hands in that bounds to work under his direction Issued <strong>Aug. 5th 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> Came C B <strong>McLEAN<\/strong> in to Court who has been chosen and appointed Administrator upon all and singular the goods &amp; Chattles rights &amp; Credits of Henry<strong> GRIMES<\/strong> deceased and entered into bond in the sum of thirty hundred dollars with John <strong>McDOUGAL<\/strong> and W W<strong> GRIMES<\/strong> his securities Conditioned for the faithful performance of his said Administrationship which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded Whereupon the said<strong> McLEAN<\/strong> took the necessary Oath for his qualification.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> Came Thomas P <strong>CYPERT<\/strong> who was on the 15th day of July last duly and legally Elected Justice of the peace for said County by the qualified Voters of the 8th Civil district thereof and presented to the Court his Commission whereupon the said T P <strong>CYPERT<\/strong> took the necessary oaths for this qualification.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> Came James C <strong>WHITAKER<\/strong> who was duly elected a Justice of the peace of Wayne County by the qualified Voter[sic] of the 3rd Civil district thereof and presented to the Court his Commission whereupon the said J C <strong>WHITAKER<\/strong> took the necessary oaths for this qualification.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\">Monday August 5th 1850<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered by the Court that Jonathan <strong>MORRIS<\/strong> [ Jonathan I <strong>BIFFLE<\/strong> and &#8211; crossed out] John <strong>McDOUGAL<\/strong>and Joseph<strong> EAST<\/strong> be appointed Commissioners to allot and set apart to Mary Ann Elizabeth <strong>Grimes<\/strong> minor heir of Henry <strong>GRIMES <\/strong>deceased so much of the Crop stock provision&amp; money sufficient for the support of said minor one year from the time of the death of her said father and that order Issue accordingly.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered that court adjourn tell Court in Course \/\/ s \/\/ D J <strong>JONES <\/strong>Chair Wm. M<strong>. LAFFERTY<\/strong> James T <strong>YOUNG.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> State of Tennessee Wayne County<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> Be it remembered that a Corum County Court was began and held for the County of Wayne at the Court house in the town of Waynesboro on the <strong>2d day<\/strong> it being the <strong>first Monday<\/strong> in <strong>September<\/strong> in the year of our Lord <strong>One thousand Eight hundred and fifty<\/strong> the following Justices present and presiding (to wit) D J<strong> JONES<\/strong> Chr. <strong>YOUNG<\/strong> and<strong> LAFFERTY<\/strong> his associates<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> A settlement between Wm<strong> JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and James H <strong>McLAMORE<\/strong> Guardian of Joel <strong>McLAMORE <\/strong>was this day submitted to the court which was confirmed and ordered to be recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> A settlement between Wm <strong>JONES<\/strong>Clerk of this Court and D J <strong>JONES<\/strong> Guardian of the Minor heirs of George <strong>VINSAND<\/strong> dec&#8217;d was this day submitted to the Court which was confirmed by the Court and ordered to be recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> A settlement between Wm <strong>JONES <\/strong>Clerk of this Court and Louisa <strong>MARTIN<\/strong> Guardian of the minor heirs of John <strong>MARTIN<\/strong> dec&#8217;d was this day submitted to the Court which was confirmed by the Court and ordered to be recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> Came Louisa <strong>MARTIN<\/strong> Guardian to Caroline Benjamin &amp; Mary minor heirs of John<strong> MARTIN <\/strong>dec&#8217;d and renewed her bond in the sum of fifty dollars with John<strong> STRICKLIN<\/strong> her security which was approved of by the Court and ordered to be recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times,serif;font-size: 12pt\"> Came Joacim <strong>DUGAR <\/strong>Guar. to Wm.
