held for the County of Wayne at the Court house in the town of Waynesboro on the first day it being the first Monday in July in the year of our Lord one Thousand eight hundred and fifty the following Justices of the peace present and presiding (to wit) D J<strong> JONES<\/strong> Chr. <strong>YOUNG<\/strong> <strong>LAFFERTY JOBE CARTER BURNS MONTAGUE BARKER WILSON VOORHIES GANT WALTKINS CURTIS BREWER HAM DIXON LEE<\/strong> &amp; <strong>RODGERS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Came J P <strong>VOORHIES<\/strong> &amp; others who was at a former term of this court appointed a Jury of View to view and mark out so as to change the road leading up Buffalo River and make the following report Begin at David <strong>VOORHIES<\/strong> and runne [sic] to John <strong>CRAIG<\/strong>s which report was [Ordered-crossed out] received by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered by the Court that E <strong>POLLACK<\/strong> be appointed Overseer of the opening and Keeping up the road as viewed and marked out by J P <strong>VOORHIES<\/strong> &amp; others and that he have the following hands George I <strong>WALKER<\/strong> Samuel <strong>VOORHIES<\/strong> David <strong>VOORHIES<\/strong> hands James <strong>VOORHIES<\/strong> George W <strong>PERY<\/strong> James <strong>McCAN<\/strong> Solom <strong>COUCH<\/strong>, and all the hands in the bounds to work under his direction Isued July 25th 1850<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> A settlement between Wm<strong> JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and John N <strong>MARTIN<\/strong> Guardian of the minor heirs of Nathaniel <strong>MARTIN<\/strong> dec&#8217;d was this day submitted to the Court which was received by the Court &amp; ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered by the Court Jonathan <strong>MORRIS<\/strong> James <strong>ANDERSON<\/strong> &amp; John<strong> McDOUGAL<\/strong> be appointed a committee to superintend the Painting outside the wood work [Window Casing &#8211; crossed out]&amp; c of the Court house in Waynesboro<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Came James <strong>ANDERSON<\/strong> Administrator of the Estate of Jesse<strong> COPELAND<\/strong> Dec&#8217;d and returned into court an Inventory of said Estate verified by his oath which was received and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Came James <strong>ANDERSON<\/strong> Administrator of all and singular the googs[sic] &amp; Chattles rights&amp; credits of the estate of Elizabeth <strong>LOYD<\/strong> dec&#8217;d and returned into Court an Inventory of said Estate verified by his oath which was received and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Came T H <strong>MABRY<\/strong> Trustee of Wayne County and entered into bond in the sum of Twenty six hundred dollars with C B <strong>McLEAN<\/strong> Jon. <strong>MORRIS<\/strong> &amp; J L <strong>CYPERT<\/strong> his securities Condition for the faithful paying out all monies that shall come into his hands on account of Common School which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">\u00a0Monday July 1st 1850<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Upon motion to appropriate to John <strong>McDOUGAL<\/strong> &amp; others entitled thereto the sum of fifteen 50\/100 [twenty one 25\/100 [ &#8211; crossed out] dollars in a bill of cost against Wayne County to wit State of Tennessee vs Stephen <strong>PARSLEY<\/strong> &amp; others James P <strong>CLARK<\/strong> Clerk of Supreme Court five 75\/100 dollars Clerk John <strong>McDOUGAL<\/strong> five 75\/100 dollars Sheriff <strong>PUGH<\/strong> four dollars those who voted in the affirmative were D J <strong>JONES<\/strong> Chr. <strong>YOUNG LAFFERTY CARTER BURNS MONTAGUE BARKER WILSON VOORHIES WATKINS GANT CURTIS<\/strong> and <strong>LEE<\/strong> 13 Noes none so said appropriation was made to be paid out of any monies in the hands of the County Trustee not otherwise appropriated<strong> Isued July 25th 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Came Nathan<strong> BIFFLE<\/strong> and others who was appointed at a former term of this Court a Jury to view and mark out a a change in the road and reported a change found as of directed in the order which was received and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Came Wm B <strong>walker<\/strong> and other who was at a former term of this appointed a July[sic]<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> of View and mark out a change in the road and report a change as directed which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Upon motion to appropriate to Jonathan<strong> MORRIS<\/strong> the sum of twelve dollars and fifty three cents the amount by him expended for<strong> BOYD<\/strong> a pauper of said County Those who voted in the affirmative were D J <strong>JONES<\/strong> Chr. <strong>YOUNG LAFFERTY JOBE CARTER BURNS BARKER WILSON VOORHIES WATKINS GANT CURTIS<\/strong> &amp; <strong>LEE<\/strong> 13 Noes <strong>MONTAGUE<\/strong> 1 So said appropriation was made to be paid out of any monies in the hands of the trustee not otherwise appropriated Isued July 25th 1850<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Upon motion to appropriate to Jonathan <strong>MORRIS<\/strong> the sum of six dollars by him [expended-crossed out] paid to Mr. <strong>McDOLE<\/strong>[??] for taking care of a pauper those who voted in the affirmative were D J <strong>JONES<\/strong> Chr. <strong>YOUNG LAFFERTY JOBE CARTER BURNS MONTAGUE BARKER WILSON VOORHIES WATKINS GANT CURTIS HAM<\/strong> &amp;<strong> LEE<\/strong> 15 Noes none so said appropriation was made to be paid out of any monies in the hands of the County trustee not otherwise appropriated <strong>Isued July 25th 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered by the Court that J I <strong>BIFFLE<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of 2d Class in the place of Hiram <strong>BRYSON<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued July 25th 1850<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered by the court that Luke <strong>LEE<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of 2d Class in the place of James I[?]<strong> SCOTT<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction <strong>Isued July 25th 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">\u00a0<strong>Monday July 1st 1850<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered by the Court that the following good and lawful men of the County of Wayne be appointed and summonds by the Sheriff of said County to attend and serve as Jurors at the next term of our Circuit Court [term-crossed out] to be held at the Court house in the town of Waynesboro on the fourth Monday in September next (To wit) John <strong>DAVIS<\/strong> Daniel <strong>MABERRY<\/strong> Marcus <strong>COOK<\/strong> Isaac W ROSS Clanton <strong>THORP<\/strong> Isaac <strong>MORRIS<\/strong> William L T <strong>EDWARDS<\/strong> John M <strong>HUTTON<\/strong> George W<strong> BARKER<\/strong> David <strong>VOORHIES<\/strong> John C G <strong>WILSON<\/strong> Andrew P <strong>DOWNING<\/strong> James D <strong>COPELAND<\/strong> John <strong>WHITE<\/strong> Pitere M S<strong>ATTERFIELD<\/strong> Jackson <strong>DOOLIN<\/strong> William R <strong>CURTIS<\/strong> Joseph <strong>HOLT<\/strong> Turner M <strong>WHITTEN<\/strong> Andrew J <strong>BREWER<\/strong> [John LISLE crossed out] Jeremiah <strong>MOATS<\/strong> John <strong>MELTON<\/strong> John W<strong>. LEE<\/strong> Mordica <strong>THORNTON<\/strong> Charles R <strong>WALKER<\/strong> and that John F<strong> HALL<\/strong> and John <strong>JACKSON<\/strong> Jr. be appointed and summonds to attend as Constables and wate[sic] on the Court and that Venirafacious Isue returnable to said Circuit Court <strong>Isued July 25 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> On motion to appropriate to A T <strong>HASSELL<\/strong> the sum of fourteen dollars [the- crossed out] for bacon furnished the poorhouse those who voted in the affirmative were D J <strong>JONES YOUNG<\/strong> [<strong>LAFFERTY<\/strong> -crossed out] <strong>JOBE CARTER BURNS BARKER WATKINS CURTIS LEE<\/strong> &amp; <strong>RODGERS<\/strong> 10 noes none so said appropriation was made to be paid out of any monies in the hand of the Trustee not otherwise appropriated <strong>Isued July 25th 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered by the Court that Robert <strong>JOHNSON<\/strong> William<strong> JOHNSON<\/strong> Jefferson <strong>JOHNSON<\/strong> Isaac <strong>MORTON<\/strong>&amp; James<strong> SPAIN<\/strong> be appointed a Jury to view and mark out a chance[sic] in the road commencing at the fall of the branch below B<strong> HAMM&#8217;s<\/strong> house and intersect the old road at said <strong>HAM&#8217;<\/strong>s house and that they report the same to the Oct. term of this Court<strong> Isued July 25th 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Upon motion to appropriate to L D <strong>MACK<\/strong> the sum of two 56\/100 dollars the amount [by-crossed out] by him furnished plank for the poorhouse those who voted in the affirmative were D J<strong> JONES<\/strong> Chr <strong>YOUNG JOBE CARTER BURNS BARKER WATKINS CURTIS HAM LEE<\/strong> &amp; <strong>RODGERS<\/strong> 11 Noes <strong>MONTAGUE<\/strong> 1 So said appropriation was made to be paid out of any monies in the hands of the trustee not otherwise appropriated <strong>Isued July 25th 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Upon motion to appropriate to W CARTER the sum of $4 25\/100 dollars for Coffin furnished for a pauper of Wayne County Those who voted in the affirmative were D J <strong>JONES<\/strong> Chr. <strong>JOBE BURNS MONTAGUE BARKER<\/strong> &amp; <strong>RODGERS<\/strong> 6 Noes YOUNG 1 So said appropriation was made to be paid out of any monies in the hands of the trustee not otherwise appropriated <strong>Isued July 25th 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"><strong>Monday July 1st 1850<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Upon motion to appropriate to A T<strong> HASSELL<\/strong> the sum of twenty five dollars for labor done on the public square in the town of Waynesboro those who voted in the affirmative were D J <strong>JONES<\/strong> Chr. <strong>YOUNG JOBE CARTER BURNS BARKER WATKINS GANT CURTIS HAM LEE RODGERS<\/strong> 12 Noes<strong> MONTAGUE<\/strong> 1 So said appropriation was made to be paid out of any monies in the hands of the County trustee not otherwise appropriated <strong>Isued July 25th 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> This day Matthew J<strong> SIMS<\/strong> presented to the Court his resignation to the office of Justice of the peace of the eight civil district Wayne County in writing which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Notice was this day given to the Court by Katherine <strong>COPELAND<\/strong> widow of Jesse <strong>COPELAND<\/strong> Dec&#8217;d that she will apply at the August term of this court to have two freeholders appointed to apportion her dower<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered by the Court that Joseph <strong>HAM<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of 2d Class in the place of G R <strong>BIFFLE<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction <strong>Isued July 25th 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Came James <strong>ANDERSON<\/strong> who was at a former term of this Court appointed Administrator of all and singular the goods &amp; Chattles rights and credits of Jesse <strong>COPELAND<\/strong> dec&#8217;d and suggested in writing the Insolvency of said estate it is therefore ordered by the Court that such publication be given as in by law in such cases required and that notice be given to all person having Claims against said estate to file them with the Clerk of this Court by the first day of January net duly authenticated as the law directs for prorate distribution[sic] or they will be forever barred<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Came Joseph <strong>HOLT<\/strong> &amp; others who was at a former term of this Cort[sic] appointed a Jury to view so as to change the Waynesboro &amp; Florence Road by the plantation of Samuel<strong> LAWSON<\/strong> and report a change as directed in the order which was received by the Court and ordered to by[sic] recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Monday July Term 1st 1850<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Came Daniel <strong>PHILIPS<\/strong> &amp; others who was at a former term of this Court appointed a Jury of View to view &amp; mark out so as to Change the road running dow[sic] little Cypress Commencing opposite George <strong>WHITTEN<\/strong>&#8216;s and report a change made as directed in the said order which was received and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> A settlement between Wm <strong>JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and T.H.<strong> MABRY<\/strong> Trustee of said County of the apportionment and distribution of the Common School monies in the year 1849 was this day submitted to the Court which was received and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered by the court that Samuel <strong>BECKHAM<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of 2d Class in the place of John <strong>MELSON<\/strong> and that he have Wm <strong>ETHRIDGE<\/strong> John <strong>MELSON<\/strong> &amp; John <strong>ROBINS<\/strong> and all the hands in that bounds to work under his direction <strong>Isued July 25th 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Came Elizabeth <strong>CARTER<\/strong> who has been constituted and appointed Guardian to Soloman K <strong>CARTER<\/strong> Joseph W <strong>CARTER<\/strong> John R <strong>CARTER<\/strong> &amp;
