{"id":2209,"date":"2014-11-15T17:29:43","date_gmt":"2014-11-15T23:29:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/wayne2\/?p=2209"},"modified":"2014-11-15T21:38:17","modified_gmt":"2014-11-16T03:38:17","slug":"court-november-1849-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/wayne\/court-november-1849-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Court December 1849"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Monday Dec\u2019r 3rd 1849<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">State of Tennessee)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Wayne County) Be it remembered that a quorum County Court was began and held for the County of Wayne at the Court house in the Town of Waynesboro on the <strong>3rd day it being the first Monday in December in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty nine<\/strong> The following Justices present and presiding <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">to<\/span> <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\">wit<\/span> W<strong> CARTER<\/strong> Chr.<strong> MONTAGUE<\/strong> &amp; <strong>JONES<\/strong> his associates<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Came Wm <strong>THORNTON<\/strong> one of the Administrators of the Estate of Josiah <strong>THORNTON<\/strong> deceased and returned into Court an Inventory of said Estate verified by his oath<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">A settlement between Wm<strong> JONES<\/strong> Clerk of said Court and J S <strong>BURNS<\/strong> one of the Trustees of Nancy<strong> TEDDER<\/strong> was this day presented to the Court which was confirmed by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">A settlement between Wm <strong>JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and John<strong> McDOUGAL<\/strong> Guardian of the minor heirs of John D <strong>KING<\/strong> dec\u2019d was this day presented to the Court which was confirmed by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">A settlement between Wm <strong>JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and Jacob<strong> SCOTT<\/strong> and Daniel <strong>MABY<\/strong> Administrators of the Estate of George<strong> CROSSNO<\/strong> Deceased was this day presented to the Court which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Came King<strong> BREWER<\/strong> Administrator of the Estate of Thomas B<strong> MELTON<\/strong> dec\u2019d and returned in to Court and Inventory and account of sales verafied by his Oath which was received by the court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Came Sampson <strong>BREWER<\/strong> &amp; others commissioners appointed by the Court to allot and set apart one years provisions for Elizabeth <strong>MELTON<\/strong> widow of Thomas B <strong>MELTON<\/strong> Dec\u2019d and returned into [the \u2013 crossed out] Court the amount by them set apart for said purpose which was rec\u2019d by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Ordered by the Court that Francis <strong>McANALLY<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of 2nd Class in the place of Barnabas<strong> JACKSON<\/strong> and that he work from the Dick <strong>SCOTT<\/strong> old house to the Lawrence County Line on the Old Columbia &amp; Waynesboro road and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued<strong> Decr 14 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Ordered by the Court that John <strong>McGLAMERY<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of 2nd Class in the place of Wm <strong>TILLEY<\/strong> removed and that he work from his house to where the Old Natchee Trace &amp; Waynesboro roads intersect and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued<strong> Decr 3, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Monday Dec\u2019r 3rd 1849<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Ordered by the Court that Isaac <strong>MORRIS<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the Road of 1st Class in the place of Hazel <strong>COPELAND<\/strong> and James [H \u2013 crossed out]<strong> WILSON<\/strong> and that he work from the four to the eight mile ____?? on the Waynesboro &amp; Savannah road and that he have the hands in the same bounds of said<strong> COPELAND<\/strong> and <strong>WILSON<\/strong> to work under his direction Isued <strong>Decr 3, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Came John<strong> GRIMES<\/strong> in to Court and acknowledged the following Receipt to have been executed by him Received of Moran H <strong>ROSS<\/strong> by the hands of Jesse <strong>HINKLE<\/strong> Eighty dollars and 11 cents in full of the amount in his hands as my Guardian up to this date this December 3rd 1849 \/ \/ s \/ \/ William H <strong>STUBBLEFIELD<\/strong> by John <strong>GRIMES<\/strong> atty in fact<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Ordered by the Court that the following Persons [Justices \u2013 crossed out] be appointed revenue Commissioners in their respective Districts for the year 1850 To wit Dist.
