Wayne County) Be it remembered that a quorum County Court was began and held for the County of Wayne at the Court house in the Town of Waynesboro on the 3rd day it being the first Monday in December in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred and forty nine<\/strong> The following Justices present and presiding to<\/span> wit<\/span> W CARTER<\/strong> Chr. MONTAGUE<\/strong> & JONES<\/strong> his associates<\/span><\/p>\n

Came Wm THORNTON<\/strong> one of the Administrators of the Estate of Josiah THORNTON<\/strong> deceased and returned into Court an Inventory of said Estate verified by his oath<\/span><\/p>\n

A settlement between Wm JONES<\/strong> Clerk of said Court and J S BURNS<\/strong> one of the Trustees of Nancy TEDDER<\/strong> was this day presented to the Court which was confirmed by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n

A settlement between Wm JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and John McDOUGAL<\/strong> Guardian of the minor heirs of John D KING<\/strong> dec\u2019d was this day presented to the Court which was confirmed by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n

A settlement between Wm JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and Jacob SCOTT<\/strong> and Daniel MABY<\/strong> Administrators of the Estate of George CROSSNO<\/strong> Deceased was this day presented to the Court which was received by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n

Came King BREWER<\/strong> Administrator of the Estate of Thomas B MELTON<\/strong> dec\u2019d and returned in to Court and Inventory and account of sales verafied by his Oath which was received by the court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n

Came Sampson BREWER<\/strong> & others commissioners appointed by the Court to allot and set apart one years provisions for Elizabeth MELTON<\/strong> widow of Thomas B MELTON<\/strong> Dec\u2019d and returned into [the \u2013 crossed out] Court the amount by them set apart for said purpose which was rec\u2019d by the Court and ordered to be recorded<\/span><\/p>\n

Ordered by the Court that Francis McANALLY<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of 2nd Class in the place of Barnabas JACKSON<\/strong> and that he work from the Dick SCOTT<\/strong> old house to the Lawrence County Line on the Old Columbia & Waynesboro road and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued Decr 14 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Ordered by the Court that John McGLAMERY<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of 2nd Class in the place of Wm TILLEY<\/strong> removed and that he work from his house to where the Old Natchee Trace & Waynesboro roads intersect and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued Decr 3, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Monday Dec\u2019r 3rd 1849<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Ordered by the Court that Isaac MORRIS<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the Road of 1st Class in the place of Hazel COPELAND<\/strong> and James [H \u2013 crossed out] WILSON<\/strong> and that he work from the four to the eight mile ____?? on the Waynesboro & Savannah road and that he have the hands in the same bounds of said COPELAND<\/strong> and WILSON<\/strong> to work under his direction Isued Decr 3, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Came John GRIMES<\/strong> in to Court and acknowledged the following Receipt to have been executed by him Received of Moran H ROSS<\/strong> by the hands of Jesse HINKLE<\/strong> Eighty dollars and 11 cents in full of the amount in his hands as my Guardian up to this date this December 3rd 1849 \/ \/ s \/ \/ William H STUBBLEFIELD<\/strong> by John GRIMES<\/strong> atty in fact<\/span><\/p>\n

Ordered by the Court that the following Persons [Justices \u2013 crossed out] be appointed revenue Commissioners in their respective Districts for the year 1850 To wit Dist. First James T. YOUNG<\/strong> Dist second Wm. M. LAFFERTY<\/strong> Dist. Third Thomas MEREDITH<\/strong> Dist. fourth D J JONES<\/strong> Dist. fifth John GRIMES<\/strong> Dist sisth John P VOORHIES<\/strong> Dist seventh A.B. GANT<\/strong> Dist Eight M J SIMS<\/strong> Dist Ninth [Wm R CURTIS<\/strong> \u2013 crossed out] Thomas ADAMS<\/strong> District tenth B HOPSON<\/strong> Dist Eleventh A J BREWER<\/strong> Dist Twelfth John DIXON<\/strong> Dist Thirteenth John PHILLIPS<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

W. CARTER<\/strong> presented to the Court the following receipts to wit<\/span><\/p>\n

Rec\u2019d of W CARTER<\/strong> forty dollars in County Claims in full of Lot No. [four \u2013 crossed out] 4 Sold on the west wide of the Square in the town of Waynesboro this the 3rd of April 1847 \/ \/ \/s \/ \/ T H MABRY<\/strong> Trustee<\/span><\/p>\n

Rec\u2019d of W CARTER<\/strong> one of the Commissioners appointed to lay off the lots on the Square ninety dollars in pay for the lot that S R LAIRD<\/strong> bought No. 3 this July 3rd 1849 \/ \/ s \/ \/ T H MABRY<\/strong> Trustee<\/span><\/p>\n

Ordered by the Court that Wm J MONTAGUE<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of 1st Class in the place of Robert MORRIS<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued Jan 8 1850<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n
