M. <strong>GALLEGLEY<\/strong> who was appointed at a former term of this court Guardian of Hannah K John &amp; William Minor heirs of William <strong>MARES<\/strong> deceased and made the following Report and and shewing Rec&#8217;d of Wm.<strong> ROBERDS<\/strong> former Guardian by the hands of John O. <strong>ROBERDS<\/strong> $84.64 1\/2 from John O. <strong>ROBERDS<\/strong> 15.00 Int on 84 64 1\/2 Eleven Months 4.65 Int on To the present 37 56 141 85 1\/2<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\"> All of which is respectfully submitted the<strong> 5th Feb&#8217;r 1849<\/strong> \/\/s\/\/ Wm M GALLEGLY Wm. M <strong>GALLEGLEY<\/strong> made oath in open court that the foregoing report is correct to the best of his knowledge and belief. <strong>Feb&#8217;r 5th 1849<\/strong> \/\/s\/\/ <strong>Wm JONES<\/strong> Clk<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">a Settlement between Wm. <strong>JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and Wm M. <strong>GALLEGLEY<\/strong> Guardian of Hannah K minor heir of Wm <strong>MARES<\/strong> deceased was this day presented to the Court and confirmed and ordered to be recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\"> A settlement between Wm <strong>JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and Wm M <strong>GALLEGLEY<\/strong> guardian of John minor heir of Wm <strong>MARES<\/strong> Deceased was this day presented to the court and confirmed and ordered to be recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\"> Came Wm M<strong> GALLEGLEY<\/strong> Guardian of the minor heirs of Wm<strong> MARES<\/strong> Deceased and renewed his bond of one hundred and ninety one dollars with Wm <strong>POLLARD<\/strong> and John <strong>FUSON<\/strong> his securities which was approved of by the Court and ordered to be recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\"> A settlement between Wm<strong> JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and John<strong> LAMB<\/strong> Guardian of the minor heirs of Washington <strong>MARTIN<\/strong> deceased was this day presented to the court and received and ordered to be recorded.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">Febr Term 5th 1849<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\"> Ordered by the court that Gideon <strong>BLACKWOOD<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road in the place of Thomas <strong>STRICKLING<\/strong> and that he work from Thomas H <strong>SHORT<\/strong>s to Wm <strong>SHARP<\/strong>s and have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction. <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">Isued Feb 19th 1849<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">Ordered by the Court that Jesse <strong>TUCKER<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road in the place of A C <strong>McDOUGAL<\/strong> and that (he) have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction. <strong>isued Febr 19, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">Ordered by the Court that King <strong>BREWER<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road in the place of James <strong>BREWER<\/strong> and have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction and that Lott <strong>DANIEL<\/strong> work under the said<strong> BREWER<\/strong>.<strong> Isued Febr 19, 1849.<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">Ordered by the Court that Wilery <strong>BREWER<\/strong> Jn. be appointed Overseer of the road in the place of P.W. <strong>HENSLEY<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his directions. Isued <strong>Febr 19, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">Ordered by the court that Wm J <strong>GRIMES,<\/strong> E <strong>RHODES,<\/strong> R A <strong>GRIMES,<\/strong> Robert <strong>MORRIS<\/strong> &amp; Levi C<strong> HOLT<\/strong> work on the Savannah Road under Robert MORRIS.<strong> Isued Febr 19, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">Ordered by the Court that Malaci<strong> DICUS<\/strong> be appointed Oversteer of the road in the place of L or S? H <strong>GRIMES<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction. <strong>Isued Febr 19, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">Ordered by the Court that Alfred B<strong> WEBB<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road in the place of Harry[?]<strong> RUSSEAW<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction.. <strong>Isued Febr 19, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">Ordered by the court that A G<strong> NEWMAN<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road in the place of G B <strong>FOSTER<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction. <strong>Isued Febr 19, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">Ordered by the court that Wm <strong>HEFINGTON<\/strong> be appointed Overseer of the road in the place of James H <strong>BRUMLEY<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction. isued Febr 19, 1849<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">It appearing to the Court that Richard C <strong>WADE<\/strong> late of said County is dead and having made no last Will in writing and application being made by Wm H<strong> WADE<\/strong> for letters of Administration granted him upon all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits of the said Richard C <strong>WADE<\/strong> Whereupon the said Wm H<strong> WADE<\/strong> entered into <\/span><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">Monday Febr Term 1849<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">bond in the sum of Six hundred dollars with James<strong> ANDERSON<\/strong> and James <strong>ARNETT<\/strong> his securities which was approved of by the Court Where upon the Court ordered that the following letters of Administration isue to the said Wm H <strong>WADE<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\">State of Tennessee Wayne County<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times\"> county Court Feb&#8217;r Session Whereas it appears to the court here that Richard C. <strong>WADE<\/strong> is dead and having made no last Will and testament [in writing crossed out] and application being made by Wm. H <strong>WADE<\/strong> to have letters of Administration granted to him upon all and singular the goods and chattels rights and credits of the said deceased and he having given bond and security as is by law in such cases required where upon the Court ordered that he have letters accordingly there are therefore to authorize you the said Wm H <strong>WADE<\/strong> to enter into and open all and singular the goods and Chattels rights and credits of the said Richard C. <strong>WADE<\/strong> deceased and the same in your possession taken when and where to be found in this State and a true and perfect inventory thereof take and return into our ensuing County Court on oath and all the Just debts of the intestate pay so far as the estate will amount or extend and the residue there of deliver to those who have a right [to erased] there to by law here in fail not Witness Wm <strong>JONES<\/strong> Clerk of [said crossed out] the County Court of Wayne County at office the<strong> first Monday in Feb&#8217;r 1849<\/strong> Where upon the said Wm H <strong>WADE<\/strong> took the necessary oath for his qualification. \/\/s\/\/ Wm <strong>JONES<\/strong> Clk.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">It appearing to the Court that Mary <strong>WADE<\/strong> late of said County is dead and having made no last will in writing and application being made by Wm H. <strong>WADE<\/strong> to have letter of Administration granted him upon all and singular the goods and Chattles rights and Credits of the said Mary <strong>WADE<\/strong> where upon the said Wm H. <strong>WADE<\/strong> entered into bond of six hundred dollars with James ANDERSON and James<strong> ARNETT<\/strong> his securities which was approved of by the Court where upon the Court ordered the following letter of Administration Isue to the said Wm H <strong>WADE<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> State of Tennessee Wayne County<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> County Court Feb&#8217;r session Whereas it appears to the Court here that Mary<strong> WADE<\/strong> is dead and have made no last will and testament and application being made by Wm H <strong>WADE<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Monday Feb&#8217;r Term 1849<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> to have letters of Administration granted to him upon all and singular the goods and Chattles rights and Credits of the said deceased and he having given bond and security as is by law in such cases required where upon the Court ordered that he have letters accordingly There are therefore to authorize you the said Wm H <strong>WADE<\/strong> to enter into and open all and singular the goods and Chattles rights and Credits of the said Mary<strong> WADE<\/strong> Deceased and the same in your possession take when and where to be found in this State and a true and perfect Inventory take and return into our ensuing County Court on oath and all [of crossed out] Just debts of the intestate pay so far as the said Estate will amount or extend and the residue there of deliver to those who have a right thereto by law here in fail not<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Witness Wm <strong>JONES<\/strong> Clerk of the County Court of Said Cty at office the <strong>First Monday in Feb&#8217;r 1849.<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Whereupon the said Wm H <strong>WADE<\/strong> took the necessary oath for his qualification \/\/S\/\/ Wm <strong>JONES<\/strong> Ckl<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Came into Court Lenoir W. <strong>CANTRELL<\/strong> who was this day appointed guardian of Henry C Wm J &amp; Mary Ann Minor heirs of Milly <strong>MAY<\/strong> Deceased and entered into bond in the sum of Five hundred and Sixty seven Dollars with W W<strong> THORNTON<\/strong> and P B<strong> WELCH<\/strong> his securities which was approved of by the court Where upon the said Lenoir W <strong>CANTRELL<\/strong> took the necessary oath for his qualification.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Ordered by the court that Hazel <strong>COPELAND<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road in the place of Benjamin<strong> HAISTY<\/strong> and that he have all the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction.<strong> isued Feb&#8217;r 19, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Ordered by the Court that Merida <strong>MORRISON<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road in the place of Wm D<strong> COPELAND<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction.<strong> Isued Feb&#8217;r 19, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Ordered by the Court that Alfred<strong> SIMMONS<\/strong> extend his portion of the road and that he work to George <strong>WHITTON<\/strong> and that he have all the hands on the Creek below said <strong>WHITTEN<\/strong>s in addition to the hand alloyed him to work under his direction.<strong> Isued Feb&#8217;r 6, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Ordered by the court that Joseph <strong>EAST<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road of 1st Class in the place of John A <strong>KENNADY<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction.<strong> Isued Feb&#8217;r 19, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Monday Feb&#8217;r 5th 1849<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered by the Court that D.J.<strong> JONES<\/strong> be appointed Chairman Protem during W<strong> CARTER<\/strong>s absence<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Washing <strong>CARTER<\/strong> Esq Chairman of the County Court by order of Said Court has this day bound Alexander<strong> DAVIS<\/strong> &amp; John W <strong>DAVIS<\/strong> orphan children of John <strong>DAVIS<\/strong> Deceased to Alexande<strong>r DAVIS<\/strong> until they attain to the age of Twenty one yrs. the said Alexander being born Oct 3rd 1844 and the said John W on the 26 Sept 1847 and the Said Alexander <strong>DAVIS<\/strong> come into Court and entered into Bond according to law to take care of said apprentices morels and Educate and Cloth said children<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Came Thomas H<strong> MABRY<\/strong> Trustee of Wayne County and made the following report To the worshipful County Court now in Session <strong>Feb&#8217;r term 1849<\/strong> The undersigned trustee of Wayne County would make the following report as to the revenue arising for the year 1848<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> The amount due from the Tax Collector is $1609.20 1\/2<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Picked Tax he collected <em>$ 14.83<\/em> <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> $1624.03 1\/2<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> The amount due from Circuit Clerk is $126.75<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> The amt. due from L.L. <strong>MACK<\/strong> Cty Clerk is $189.46 1\/2<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> &#8221; C<strong>. DUREN<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued Feb&#8217;r 19, 1849<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Ordered by the Court that John W<strong> BERRY<\/strong> be appointed overseer of the road in the place of Samuel<strong> BECKHAM<\/strong> and that he have the hands in the same bounds to work under his direction Isued Feb&#8217;r 19, 1849<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Came John N. <strong>MARTIN<\/strong> in to Court who was this day appointed Guardian of Nathaniel Hannah E James H Lidia M &amp; Richard K Minor heirs of Nathiel [sic] <strong>MARTIN<\/strong> deceased and entered into bond in the sum of three hundred dollars with A. J. <strong>MARTIN<\/strong> and Thomas S[?]<strong> MARTIN<\/strong> his securities which was approved of by the court where upon the John N MARTIN took the necessary oath for his qualification.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Came into Court John T <strong>WHITTEN<\/strong> who was this day appointed Guardian of Jesse Josiah Moses K &amp; Polly Ann <strong>WHITTEN<\/strong> and entered into bond in the sum of three hundred and ten dollars with John <strong>PHILIPS<\/strong> and Gray<strong> PHILIPS<\/strong> his securities which was approved of by the Court, Where upon the said John T <strong>WHITTEN<\/strong> took the necessary oath for his qualification<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Came into Court Thomas J <strong>MONTAGUE<\/strong> and [resigned crossed out] Tendered his resignation to the office of Constable of the 1st District Wayne County which was received by the Court<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Ordered that Court adjourn tell tomorrow mornin [?] 10 OClock \/\/s\/\/ D J <strong>JONES<\/strong> P. Chair A. <strong>MONTAGUE<\/strong> Thos. <strong>SHEPARD<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Tuesday Feb&#8217;r 6th 1849<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> On application of Thomas <strong>SHEPARD<\/strong> a Justice of the peace of Wayne County it is ordered by the Court that a summans Isue to the Sheriff of Wayne County to have James Franklin &amp; Jordon <strong>CUNNINGHAM<\/strong> before [the cross out] this court at the next term to be disposed of as the Court may think best as said Children is without parents or any means of maintenance [?]<strong> Isued Feb&#8217;r 19, 1849<\/strong><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">Came into Court Soloman <strong>JOBE<\/strong> who was appointed Guardian of the minor heirs of Abraham <strong>MELSON<\/strong> deceased at a former term of this Court and made the following report<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> State of Tennessee) To the Worshipful County Court now in session The Wayne County) undersigned who was appointed at a former term of this Court Guardian of the minor heirs of Abraham <strong>MELSON<\/strong> deceased would make the following report &amp; shewing of the amount that has come in to his hands as such Guardian.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> To amt due on Ad&#8217;m settlement $48.42<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Int. on same 9.44<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Recd from Peter <strong>MELSON<\/strong>s Estate 30.00<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Int on same 2.40<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> &gt;From same Estate 13.00<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Int on same .55<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Cash on debt <em>3.00<br \/>\n$106.81<br \/>\n<\/em>All of which is respectfully submitted \/\/s\/\/ Solomon <strong>JOBE<\/strong> Guard.<strong> Feb&#8217;r 6th 1849<\/strong> Soloman <strong>JOBE<\/strong> made oath in open Court that the foregoing report is correct to the best of his knowledge and belief Feb&#8217;r 6th 1849 \/\/s\/\/ Wm<strong> JONES<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> A settlement between Wm<strong> JONES<\/strong> Clerk of this Court and Soloman <strong>JOBE<\/strong> guardian of the Minor heirs of Abraham<strong> MELSON<\/strong> Deceased was this day presented to the Court and Confirmed and ordered to be recorded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Came Soloman <strong>JOBE<\/strong> into Court who was appointed at a former term of this Court Guardian of the minor heirs of Abraham <strong>MELSON<\/strong> deceased and renewed his Bond in the sum of two hundred and five dollars with D C <strong>McADOO<\/strong> his security which was approved of by the Court<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Tuesday Feb&#8217;r 6th 1849<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\"> Ordered by the Court that John <strong>McDOUGAL<\/strong> Hiram <strong>ROBERTS<\/strong> and T H<strong> MABRY<\/strong> Freeholders be appointed Commissioners who after having been duly sworn for said purpose shall proceed to allot and set apart to Polly<strong> BURGESS<\/strong> widow of Thomas<strong> BURGESS<\/strong> Deceased so much of the crop stock provisions money and other property on hand belonging to said Estate as shall be sufficient for the support of herself &amp; family for one year next after the death of her said husband and report the same to the next term of this Court<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: times new roman,times;font-size: 12pt\">ordered that Court adjourn untill Court in Course \/\/s\/\/ D J <strong>JONES<\/strong> Protem Chairman A. <strong>MONTAGUE<\/strong>, Thos. <strong>SHEPARD<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Monday Feb&#8217;r 5th 1849 Be it remembered that a Corum County Court was began and held for the County of Wayne at the Court House in the Town of Waynesboro on the fifth day it being the First Monday in Feb&#8217;r in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and forty nine.
