This cemetery is located two to three miles east of Cypress Inn, Tennessee on highway 227 (Pumping Station Rd).<\/span><\/p>\n

This cemetery is owned by the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church and maintained by descendants of those buried here and once or twice a year, inmates from the Clifton Tennessee Detention Facility clean the grounds. There are several graves that are marked only with rocks and no information on them. The oldest grave that has a marker has a birth date of 1810. Most of the ones marked with rocks are probably much older. There are three known Civil War Veterans buried here. A Nancye Neighbors listed in this file is said to be the first white person buried here according to historian Grace Carver. Several slaves were believed to be buried here first.<\/span><\/p>\n

The church owns approximately five acres including the church grounds and cemetery. The cemetery area is presently being expanded.<\/span><\/p>\n
