The Gray cemetery is located in a very remote area. There is only one headstone in the burial area, that being the person named below. Evidence can be seen to support the possibility of at least three or four more graves, however, there is no identification for them. This grave and possibly others are on a portion of the property still in the possession of members of the Pigg family.

Girls Grave #168

LOCATION: To the southeast of Gallion Road, about ½ mile west of TN Highway 13. The grave is located on the top of a hill beside the stump of an tree. Information provided by Leland Gallien who stated that the young girl died while a family was traveling through the area and was buried where the family had been camped. No other information available.

Location: ½ mile west of Copeland’s Chapel Church on the south side of the Bear Creek/Lutts Road. The grave is located in a small enclosure with only a field stone to mark its existence. The name of the girl buried here is not known.

Gean Cemetery

LOCATION: This cemetery is located in the Lutts area in the southwest section of Wayne County. It is just off the Walker Johnson and Dougal McFall road that connects the Second Creek and Grassy Creek road, property now owned by a Petty family. It is not far from the old McFall School.

This cemetery had been turned into a hog lot. There were several field stones that had been turned over and out of place, a few were still in place enough to tell they were marking a grave. Only one marker was found with a name on it. It “was” a good size marker, waist high or higher.

Gallaher Cemetery #175

The Gallaher Cemetery is located east of the Natchez Trace Parkway northeast of Collinwood, Tennessee. To reach the cemetery turn east off the parkway just south of the Lower Glenrock rest area. Turn onto Glen Rock Rd. aka (Factory Creek Rd.) (Co. Rd. 1767 and travel 1 mile. The cemetery is on the left of the road. There are about one half dozen unknown graves here. One grave has a stone with what appears to have information etched into the stone, however it is not legible. This enumeration is current as of 10 May 2012.

Friendship Cemetery (old Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery)

To reach the Friendship Cemetery, travel south from Collinwood, Tennessee on State Hwy. 13 for approximately 11.6 miles. Turn right (west) onto Pumping Station Rd. (TN Hwy. 227) and go 3.1 miles. Immediately upon passing an automobile salvage yard. Turn right (north) and the cemetery is on the right side of the road about 60 yards after turning.

This cemetery has 49 graves marked only with white concrete crosses, all unknown. There are 54 unknown graves total. The cemetery grounds are somewhat neglected.

Additional Information: From a survey done by Edgar D. Byler, III in 1971 there were 56 graves marked with small white crosses and an additional 29 graves marked only with fieldstones. Two other graves, not found above are listed below.

This cemetery was adjacent the old Friendship Baptist Church which was established about 1830. Rev. Peter Satterfield (Sutterfield) was one of the early ministers.  The Church was moved and renamed Oak Grove in 1867 due to a conflict with a neighboring property owner.

In addition to the above graves there are several probable burials in this cemetery.

To reach this cemetery, travel north from the square in Waynesboro for .6 mile and turn left. Go .1 mile to TN Highway 64 and turn left. Travel 1.2 miles and turn right at the flashing caution lights. This is the Old Clifton Turnpike. Travel about 5.6 miles and the cemetery is on the road bank by the church.

LOCATION: The Forty-Eight Free Will Baptist Cemetery is located just off highway 64 east of Waynesboro. Traveling from Waynesboro, turn right onto South Forty Eight Road just before crossing forty-eight creek. Go about .2 miles. The church & cemetery is on the right. There is one unknown grave here.
