Inducted Waynesboro, TN on 5 Sep 1917, and was honorably discharged 17 Jan 1919. He was born 18 Jan 1892, Clifton, Wayne Co., TN and was the son of John Robert and Rachel WALKER THOMPSON. William Henry THOMPSON married on 24 Dec 1913 in Wayne County, Tennessee to Elvie MORRISON, the daughter of Hiram and Nancy “Nannie” COLE MORRISON. They had three sons, Willard Osborne, Joe Wilbur and William Henry “W. H.” THOMPSON. William Henry THOMPSON, the subject of this biography, died 19 Feb 1974 and is buried at the Walker Cemetery on Eagle Creek, Wayne County, TN.

John Robert THOMPSON was born 12 Jan 1855, and died 39 March 1932. He married Rachel WALKER, b. 7 Feb 1861, d. 9 Jan 1951, on 2 Dec 1880 in Wayne County, Tennessee. They had nine children. Louish Benjamin THOMPSON, Robert Andrew THOMPSON, and William Henry THOMPSON whose biographies appear above. Other children were James Legon THOMPSON, John Osbon THOMPSON, Charlie Cicero THOMPSON, Mary Maggie Ann THOMPSON, Theodosha Ella THOMPSON and Joe Varris THOMPSON.

John Robert THOMPSON, b. 1855, was the son of John THOMPSON, b. 5 May 1831 (or 15 May 1832?) , d. 31 Dec 1906, br. Friendship Cem. Wayne Co., TN, and Nancy GARNER, b. 12 March 1829, d. 18 Oct 1862. John Robert’s grandparents were George THOMPSON who died between 1842 – 1850; and Sadie Ann BANKS, b. ca. 1809 NC, d. between 1850 & 1860, the daughter of Jim BANKS.

Rachel WALKER THOMPSON, b. 1861, was the daughter of Osborn S. WALKER, b. 4 April 1829, d. 28 Dec 1904, and Mary “Polly” A. REEVES, b. 16 Jan 1832, d. 6 Feb 1912. Osborn WALKER was the son of George H. M. WALKER, b. 1792/3 Rutherford Co., NC, the son of Mary MOORE ROBERTS WALKER BATTLES, b. 1768, d. 1857. Mary “Polly” A. REEVES was the daughter of Andrew REEVES, b. 1803 SC, d. 1907/8, and Hannah PULLEY, b. ca, 1807/9.
