A Primitive Baptist Church was located on Beech Creek about two miles above old Methodist Campground, and approximately one mile below Prater Branch, on the south side of the creek. In the 1850’s and 1860’s the church was moved from this location to Haynes Springs. On top of the hill above the old church location are seven or eight graves, marked with fieldstones with what appear to be some primitive markings. However, nothing could be deciphered. It has been said by older people in the community that these are graves of slaves.
