Information used with the permission of Lorraine Bennett Rae.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">From volume 1, page 217 \u2013 WCCL<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"> \u201cBROCKWELL \u2013 3-1\/4 mi S of Johnson City on the left of Cherokee Road going from Johnson City to Garbers.\u00a0 Established by David Brockwell.\u00a0 A private cemetery that has been in existence since the Civil War \u2013 probably 50 years old.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">From volume 1, page 217 \u2013 WCCL<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"> \u201cSLAGLE \u2013 3-1\/4 mi S. of Johnson City.\u00a0 Established by David Slagle.\u00a0 This is a small public cemetery.\u00a0 It is now used by the Slagle family but was formerly used by the Lyles as a burying ground.\u00a0 (This could be the Slagle-Huffine cemetery; however, there are no Lyle graves marked if it is the same one)\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">From volume 1, page 157 \u2013 entry 48<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"> \u201cYOUNG-LYLE-STRICKLAND \u2013 Located on the right hand side of Horse Cove Road off Cherokee Road on land where Chaney Boren formerly lived\u2026..\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">This burial ground is most commonly known as <a href=\"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/washington\/records-data\/cemeteries\/cemeteries-of-washington-county-tennessee\/cemeteries-of-washington-county-tennessee-u-v-w-x-y-z\/young-strickland-cemetery\/\">Young-Lyle-Strickland<\/a>.\u00a0 See that entry and also the <a href=\"https:\/\/tngenweb.org\/washington\/records-data\/cemeteries\/cemeteries-of-washington-county-tennessee\/cemeteries-of-washington-county-tennessee-r-s-t\/slagle-david-cemetery\/\">David Slagle<\/a> entry for additional information. Markers indicate burials began in the 1840\u2019s and ceased at 1871, then began again in 1910. The Slagles owned the subject property and graveyard from about 1892 forward.\u00a0 The Strickland death certificates indicate that \u201dSlagle\u201d was the name of the burial ground.\u00a0 Having been born in the 1850\u2019s, David Brockwell would not have established a graveyard at the time of the Civil War.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt\"> David B. Brockwell\u2019s wife was Susan Strickland. Their daughter, Julia, married William Strickland. Susan Strickland Brockwell died in 1929 and was buried at Speedwell Cemetery.\u00a0 David died in 1930 and is buried at Mountain Home in Johnson City.\u00a0 Julia Brockwell Strickland died in 1917 and was buried at Y-L-S, as was her husband, William, and at least two children. The Stricklands are buried in a distinct section, possibly added by David Brockwell for his daughter and a few grandchildren.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 14pt\">No further proof has been found.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Surveyed, transcribed and donated to the Washington County TNGen Web November 2015 by Gordon M.
