From volume 3, page 323 \u2013 WCCL entry<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cGARST \u2013 3-1\/2 mi N of Jonesboro on the road leading from Johnson City to Keeblers Cross Roads. Bryant & Dewey Keefauver presently own the land. Established before 1889. There are 2 graves. It is on the old William Garst place.\u201d<\/i><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The location of the burial spot was pointed out by the current resident, who is a descendant of Bryant Keefauver. No markers other than fieldstones were known to exist. Those fieldstones are no longer visible. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

GPS Location<\/u><\/span><\/strong> – +36\u00b0 21.305, -82\u00b0 27.180<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

LOCATION<\/u><\/span><\/strong> \u2013 A few hundred feet west of the house at 212 Highland Church Road, Johnson City. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

DEEDS<\/u><\/span><\/strong> \u2013 Several deeds were reviewed, dating back prior to the Civil War. David Garst, father of William, obtained title to approximately 200 acres in 1858 (Deed Book 36, Page 638). After a few partitions, the parcel containing the burial ground was conveyed to Robert Keefauver in 1910 (Deed Book 105, Page 177) and consisted of about 75 acres. This parcel was again partitioned, and remains in the Keefauver family to this day. Robert Keefauver was Bryant\u2019s grandfather. All deeds reviewed are silent on the existence of a burial ground.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

BURIALS<\/u><\/span><\/strong> \u2013 It is unknown whom may be buried here or when the burials occurred.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
