Information used with the permission of Lorraine Bennett Rae.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva,sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">From volume 3, page 89 \u2013 entry 75<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva,sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">\u201cLocated on the left bank of the Holston River.\u00a0 Flooded by Boone Lake.\u00a0 TVA records indicate that there were 11 graves; 1 was removed.\u201d<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva,sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">And, from volume 3, page 96 \u2013 entry 80 (Jesse Duncan Cemetery)<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva,sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">\u201cNote:\u00a0 They had gathered at the fort during an Indian attack and were returning to their homes in the vicinity of Borings Chapel.\u00a0 Jesse Duncan went ahead of the party, possibly scouting, and they found (him) killed and scalped beside the trail.\u00a0 They buried him on the spot.\u00a0 His wife lived many more years and was buried near Borings Chapel.\u00a0 TVA moved her body from the Boone Lake area and buried her beside her husband July 9, 1952.\u201d <\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva,sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">For the most part, Tennessee Valley Authority records were used to support this entry.\u00a0 There seems to be some conflicting familial records.\u00a0 These connections mentioned have not been proven, but are provided as a reference<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva,sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\"><strong>LOCATION<\/strong> \u2013 At the time of grave removal, this burial ground was located on the farm of the heirs of John Bowman.\u00a0 Currently, the property is owned by the Tennessee Valley Authority.\u00a0 A TVA map was found showing the location rather clearly.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva,sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">GPS:\u00a0 +36\u00b0 26.500, -82\u00b0 25.590 (best approximation)<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva,sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">DEEDS \u2013 A thorough deed analysis was not done.\u00a0 Deed Book 6, Page 522 (1794) State of North Carolina to Elizabeth Duncan \u2013 300 acres.\u00a0 The description is fairly general, however it does call \u201c\u2026..on south side of Watauga and Holsten river including the place where on the said Elizabeth Duncan lives\u2026..\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva,sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">A conveyance of part of the original 300 acre tract went to one Ezekiel Wright, (Deed Book12, Page 288) in 1810.\u00a0\u00a0 One Emanuel Wright was married to Nancy Anne Bowman, daughter of a John Bowman.\u00a0 Their son was John Nelson Wright. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: verdana,geneva,sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\"><strong>BURIALS<\/strong> \u2013 The grave of Elizabeth Dodge Duncan was identified by one John N.
