Entry 107 would seem to fit the “established 1839” portion, as the first known burial there was Elizabeth Pritchett, wife of Singleton, who died Sept 28, 1839. Also, there are a few graves there. The burial ground near Marvin’s Chapel is thought to have included only one grave – that of Mark M. Pritchett (1818-1863). Mark M. Pritchett was reinterred at Maple Lawn and a new marker placed indicating the move from “Boone’s Creek”.

No written documentation has been found to prove this, however a reliable eyewitness recalled his grandfather, who lived across the road, stating that “he was married and buried up by the old tree on top of the hill”. The subject tree is now gone, however, a very close approximation of the spot is noted in this entry.

Mark M.
