Overgrown with vegetation and all the headstones knocked over. Four markers are embedded in trees. No part of this work may be copied without written permission from the Cemetery Survey Team.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">There are approximately 25 to 30 field stones.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Bowman descendants claim that Daniel Bowman b. Nov. 21, 1774, d. April 5, 1835, Age 60y, 7m. 16d is buried in this cemetery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\"><b>Additional information:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">In May of 1982, Irma Bowman Kitzmiller and Loraine Bennett Rae surveyed this cemetery and found near Solomon Hylton&#8217;s marker:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Daniel Bowman who was born the 21st Nov. 1774, died the 5th Apil 1835, age 60y 7m 16d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">This marker was not found March 16, 2001. Daniel Bowman was one of the first preachers at the Knob Creek Church of the Brethren.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">From <i>The Brethren Encyclopedia<\/i>, Philadelphia, PA and Oak Brook, IL, c.1983, v. 1, A-J, p.166:<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-size: medium;font-family: verdana,geneva\">Bowman, George C., 1832-98, minister. G.C. Bowman was born in Washington Co., NT. He married Anna Hylton in 1860. Elected to the ministry in 1861, he served as elder (ca. 1870ff.) in the area surrounding Boones Creek, TN. He was a member of Annual Conference Standing Committee several times in the 1880s and 1890s. Bowman was remembered as an outstanding preacher and evangelist who drew on a remarkable fund of memorized Scripture in his sermons.
